Travel to the Island by private car

It takes 3 hours to get to Cat Ba in a private car. The most convenient way is to follow Hai Phong highway, through Dinh Vu port area and Got ferry. Recently, the ferry is available from 5:30 am to 6 pm. It takes 10 mins to even an hour for the ferry varies depending on how busy it is. If you go on the weekend you will have to wait longer than weekdays.

Day 1: Trekking Cat Ba National Park

Its not too humid in Autumn, and go trekking at National Park is an worthy experience. We usually chose a10-km route, from 830 a.m. to go through the national park to Viet Hai village, learn about the forest ecosystem and different forest types such as primary, tropical moist forest, mangrove forest, and learn more about the forest ecosystem. There are many different kinds of rare trees… The terrain of the whole route is quite diverse, many sections are straight through the forest, there are steep climbs, mainly cliffs of medium height, only a few short sections are steep. The trekking time is about 5 hours. The entrance fee to the garden is 70,000 VND per person. If you are on our tour, this fee is included. There are many part of the part that you may get lost, so you need a tour guide.

There are many options for trekking routes based on health, interests and time. You can choose to take a short walk only about 2 km to Ngu Lam peak and back to the garden gate, visit Trung Trang cave, the time is only about 2 hours

Rest in Viet Hai village

Around 1:30pm, we will return to Viet Hai ancient village, a little fishing village located in Cat Ba National Park. This place only has about 500 people, but there are enough services for visitors such as accommodation, dining, foot massage with fish… to relax after trekking. Food is mainly grown by local people.

Cycling in Viet Hai village.

Cycling around the village is a should not miss one. Once we rent a room in the village for the night, they will give us a free bicycle, which you can use to go around. If you only visit the village for a day, the rental price is only 50,000 VND. With a 10 km route cycling throughout the village you will feel completly relaxed.

In the evening, the group eats and spends the night at bungalow Long Phuong, with private rooms, the price ranges from 500,000 VND to 700,000 VND per room, from 2 to 4 people. In addition, many homestays in the village are available with suitable costs.

Day 2: Lan Ha Bay, kayaking, swimming and enjoying seafood

Wake up in the morning, go for a 5 km light jog around the village, then have breakfast and move to the pier to visit Lan Ha Bay. Boats take people on the bay, famous spots such as Cai Beo floating village, Turtle island, Mot island… and stop for kayaking at Tay Keo beach for one hour, where there is a quiet space.

We will be at Monkey Island afterward at about 11:30am, you can go swimming freely on the white sand beach, crystal clear water and gentle waves. The fall weather can make you feel cold when you first get in to the water, but it only takes a few seconds to get used to it. Get a package tour for the day, so after bathing. We can sit on the beach and grill some fresh seafood such as shrimp, oysters, squid… and enjoy outside in the cool air.

The schedule is suitable for those who have been to Cat Ba, familliar to this island because we will not enter the town and attractions on the main island.

In addition, the schedule is also for those who are active and advanturous. If you just want to relax, you should choose to stay in town, with some resorts like Flamingo Cat Ba, Perle dOrient Cat Ba-MGallery… in Cat Co beach area or overnight on Lan Ha Bay.
